Tamarind Chutney

Ingredients

  • 2 packages of NETTARE tamarind pulp
  • 1/3 cup dry red wine
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar (or red wine)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (or demerara)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped green bell pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 crushed garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes

Preparation

  • Sauté the onion and ginger in olive oil until golden brown. Then, add all the remaining ingredients and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly!
  • Once thickened, serve to taste and enjoy!
  • It has a sweet and sour flavor and can be served with meats, salads, canapés, and as an addition to barbecue. It’s also a great option with pork, and fish such as salmon and tuna!!
